The Witch Film Trailer

The Witch, Sundance 2015’s breakout hit, is nearing its release date and cranking up the anticipation factor with a stream of dark and sinister trailers, the latest of which you can view above. Set in New England in 1630, where William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins a spiral into an unspeakable evil.

With its dark palette and sombre tone, The Witch looks like it could be a return to the British horror genre traditions set by Hammer in the 70s, and hopefully a narrative that departs from the expectations set by more recent low calibre fair within the genre.

The Witch hits UK cinemas on 11th March 2016.
