The Boy Film Trailer

Horror is our favourite genre here at the Film Rave, but we believe its standards have plopped into the gutter over the last decade or so. Yet things were beginning to look good, with films like It Follows (2014), the excellent Babadook (2014) and The Conjuring (2013), to name only a few, trying to unearth the genre and drag it out of its rotting coffin.

Now, this latest offering from the genre has got us intrigued. The Boy is about Greta, a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior.

Okay, so we all know what’s going to happen now, don’t we? Yep, you’re right.

After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.

Okay, we’re sold.

The Boy is goes on UK general release on 19th February 2016.
