The Punisher Trailer: Netflix set to show off its most violent Marvel character yet

Netflix debuted its version of Marvel’s The Punisher character back in season two of Daredevil, and what a debut that was!

The production values and the level of violence written into the character were nothing short of amazing considering it was a TV show. Yet this was no surprise to us here at the Film Rave, as those values had run solidly throughout both seasons of Daredevil, which was a fantastic show in its own right. As with all reboots of previously seen characters, The Punisher spin-off show will reintroduce us to Frank Castle and the events that saw him become this violent character, with the premise being:

A former Marine out to punish the criminals responsible for his family’s murder finds himself ensnared in a military conspiracy.

Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Mob City, The Accountant) returns, and in deciding how to describe the actor’s performance of the character, we decided to let Gerry Conway, co-creator of The Punisher comic, do it for us:

“Jon Bernthal gives The Punisher the kind of pathos that’s underneath the tough guy, and I like it.”

Netflix's The Punisher

Netflix will begin streaming The Punisher on November 17th. We at the Film Rave are going to call that Punisher Day.
